In 2015, I interned in Bidaya Media which is the production company responsible for for developing and producing ‘Iftah Ya Simsim’, a much loved Arabic version of Sesame Street, the critically acclaimed educational and entertaining early childhood TV show. During my internship I was responsible of creating a series of infographics that reflect on the feedback of the first season of the show. In addition, I designed social media icons and graphics, as well as managed events to promote the first season of the show. Upon graduation in 2016, I was lucky to be employed full-time. Being part of a team that contributes to the development of educational content for young children is both fulfilling and meaningful. I gained valuable insights and was fortunate to establish significant collaborations and connections that allowed me to explore the world of informal design across various aspects and mediums.
My responsibilities included:
- Creating outreach materials
- Serving as a research member in multiple projects
- Developing a full social media schedule on a monthly basis focusing on enhancing STEAM knowledge for children
- Managing events and designing brochures and backdrops
- Developing and designing props for season 2 of Iftah Ya SimSim
- Working on outlining children's informative booklets, storybooks, and activity books
- Consulting license approvals between partners and Sesame Street
- Reconstructing the Iftah Ya Simsim website, and creating content
- Managing events material and giveaways
- Designing and creating Abu Dhabi Science festival booth for Iftah Ya Simsim
