This project originated as an experimental endeavor during my undergraduate program in the UAE, and I am currently revisiting and expanding upon it. The focus now is on developing puzzles designed for children residing in the UAE. These puzzles serve as a creative reflection of the Mangrove National Park, an extensive area along Abu Dhabi's eastern coast. Renowned for its diverse ecosystem, the mangroves provide a habitat for a rich array of wildlife, ranging from various fish species to turtles and over 50 bird species, including the captivating flamingos.
The impetus for this project arose from my interactions with children while volunteering at the Abu Dhabi Science Festival. Witnessing their curiosity and enthusiasm sparked the idea of using puzzles as an informal yet engaging educational tool. The primary objective is to impart knowledge about the mangrove ecosystem and its vibrant wildlife in a way that is both creative and accessible to children.
By crafting puzzles that showcase the unique features of the Mangrove National Park, I aim to foster a connection between the children and their natural surroundings. The puzzles serve as a medium through which young minds can absorb information about the diverse flora and fauna that call the mangroves home. This approach aligns with the belief that informal, hands-on learning experiences can be powerful educational tools, especially when introducing complex ecological concepts to children.
In essence, this project represents a fusion of environmental education and play, providing children with an entertaining yet educational exploration of the Mangrove National Park and its intricate ecosystems.
